Kozzmozz: Through the Planetary Void

Kozzmozz: Through the Planetary Void - Sat 19-03-16, Kunstencentrum Viernulvier

General Info

Concept

In the year 2045 we took part in the highly ambitious and top secret NASA HOPE project, aimed at examining and developing revolutionary concepts for human outer planet exploration. Our task included the launch of crewed journeys to the outer solar system, in search of life-supporting planets. After erring for eternity in the dark and mysterious voids of Outer Space, we discovered an unknown planet where the biosphere environment and its planetary conditions were extremely favorable for human life. That is, because of its extraordinary bright surface and the geyser-like plumes of ice and water vapor which erupt from its southern polar region.

It occurred to us that sharing this valuable information with NASA wasn’t a good idea. We didn’t want this precious hidden planet to suffer the same fate as poor Planet Earth, considering how the human race ruthlessly destroyed its own environment. We decided to keep this information quiet and to use it for our own purpose. And that’s how our own Planet K was born.

Life is superb here, bearing the benefits of our highly elaborated planetary resource techniques, our ultra high-tech controlled ecological life support system and our ability to develop the most elaborated, exquisite and ground breaking techno music of the Universe. We won’t ever reveal the coordinates of our Planet K. But, dear Humans, we will bring you a slice of that mysterious techno extravaganza during our next time travel stop at the Blue Planet.

You will be guided to it by a fine selection of space travelers from whom we trust their abilities to tune in to our techno frequencies from Outer Space.

The line-up is headed by quite an exceptional joint-venture behind the decks in the form of Ben Sims back-2-back with Truncate.

As label boss of Theory recordings, producer and internationally recognized techno legend in his own right, Ben Sims has spent all his conscious life exploring all facets of underground dance music He has honed his reputation as a tight, energetic mixer who skillfully weaves together his own distinctive blend of tough funk and hard grooves, often using three-deck wizardry and plenty of dexterity. Be it at clubs like Fabric London, Atomic Jam, Berghain or festivals around the world, Sims’ sets are powerful, memorable, and unique, while constantly pushing the boundaries of a DJ set – utilizing a mesmerizing blend of vinyl, CDs, and software. We’ve glad the pleasure to experience this on Kozzmozz several times already.

As Sims solo sets are already unique on their own, when he teams up with Truncate the beats go flying around the room even more exquisitely. Truncate is an alias of Audio Injection which focuses on the deeper and rawer side of techno. His tracks have gained support from all the big players and he has provided remixes for artists across the musical spectrum. He recently released original tracks on 50 Weapons and Ultramajic. A rigorous international tour schedule shows there’s no slowing down for David as he continues to shape his own sound and places Los Angeles on the techno map. As for as his back to back with Ben goes, they won’t be doing this often, only for very special space voyages like this one …

Next to this special treat, the Kozzmozz space cadets will also be treated to not one but two smashing live-acts. Both are signed to our resident Kr!z’ Token Records, a label that still excels on a worldwide level. We are very happy to be able to say that Kr!z has recovered enough to guide you to our Planet K again with his always impeccable selection.

After a few years of working in groups and exploring genres as Drum ‘n’ bass and house, Troels Knudsen from Denmark turned to techno with his Ctrls project. It was born in 2012 with the release of the ‘Interface EP’ on his new home-base Token Records. A remix of Phase's ‘Binary Opposition’ was the follow up and by then Ctrls tracks had worked their way into the sets of some of the most notable techno dj’s across the world. He continues to develop his fast paced and futuristic style, seeking out the various nuances of techno and the surrounding genres, with one or two releases a year on Token Records of which the last one is ‘Two Worlds’. He now also brings his sounds live to the crowd but not very often so here’s another special treat in K territory.

There’s also an abundance of imagination in the inventive mind of the Madrid-based DJ, producer and label manager Miguel Sar. Throughout the past 10 years, his daring experiments in both the studio and clubs, have redefined the meaning of electronic music. He made his Tadeo moniker the answer to the underground techno scene, pioneering with the foundation of Cyclical Tracks, Cmyk Musik, NET28 and Another Intelligence. With outstanding releases on Token Records and Non Series, including the popular ‘Terra Incognita EP’ as well as gigs in Berlin’s Berghain and Tresor, Rome’s GOA, Fabric London, Concrete & Rex Club in Paris, Awakenings Festival and Sonár, Tadeo brings a new musical landscape to today’s dance music scene.  And we’re looking forward to discover these sounds live on our outer space trip from Planet K.

Our other resident Spacid knows the techno sounds from Planet K very well since he has been part of our explorations since the very beginning. So we know he’s very well placed to take you to our orbit.

Come and find out about our extra terrestrial secrets!
